A Stephenville man charged with assaulting a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer in January had his matters set over to March 6 in provincial court in Corner Brook on Tuesday.

Nathan Stevenson, 25, was charged on Jan. 19 following a traffic stop near Deer Lake.

The man was arrested for drug-related offences and then became involved in an altercation with the officer.

He’s charged with four Criminal Code offences — assaulting a police officer and causing bodily harm, resisting a police officer, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana — and one Highway Traffic Act offence for speeding.

His lawyer, Trevor Stagg, appeared via teleconference on his behalf and requested the matter be set over, as he has not yet received disclosure on the charges.
