Funding to improve municipal infrastructure in 13 communities was announced during an event in Campbellton today, Sept. 10.
The provincial government is contributing over $3.4 million towards the 16 projects, while the federal government is providing funding over $2.1 million.
The municipalities involved – Appleton, Baie Verte, Bishop’s Falls, Botwood, Brighton, Campbellton, Grand Falls-Windsor, Harbour Breton, Herring Neck, Norris Arm, Pleasantview, Shoe Cove, Stoneville – will provide more than $990,000.
The projects represent 16 of 72 projects the province is cost-sharing with the federal and municipal governments under the Small Communities Fund in 2018-19.
In this year’s budget, the provincial government provided $18.8 million to leverage an additional $12.7 million in federal funds from the fund, resulting in total project values of approximately $42.9 million.
