The U.S. Consulate General in Halifax will have a consular officer in St. John’s on Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 3 to offer services for U.S. citizens.

According to information provided to The Telegram, the visit is meant to help anyone in Newfoundland and Labrador who might otherwise need to travel out of province for the services.

The consul will, for example, be able to take applications for passports for adults getting a passport for the first time, or children’s passport applications — both first passports and renewals. Birth registrations can also be completed.

Fees must be paid in U.S.-dollar money orders and original documents must be available, with one photocopy for each document required for each service being requested.

Appointments are required and must be made in advance of the visit. To make an appointment or ask about fees, people can contact American Citizen Services at the U.S. Consulate General in Halifax at [email protected].

Individual appointments will be confirmed, with details on meeting place as well as time, as soon as possible.
