Due to the Labour Day holiday on Monday, there are numerous changes to city and town-operated facilities and services in the metro area.
St. John’s
Garbage and recycling collection in all areas of St. John’s will occur the day after the regular collection day, beginning Tuesday.
Most city-operated facilities and offices will be closed on Monday, including the Robin Hood Bay dump.
Some exceptions include the Visitor Information Centre on Water Street which will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the Bannerman Park and Bowring Park splash pads which will be open from 9 a.m. to dusk.
Monday will also be the last day splash pads are open for the summer.
Parking meter regulations will not be enforced on Monday.
The council meeting, regularly scheduled for Monday, will take place 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
The Access St. John’s Centre will remain available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 311 or online at www.stjohns.ca/access-311.
Conception Bay South
Garbage and recycling collection schedules remain unchanged in Conception Bay South, but the following facilities will be closed on Monday: Town hall, Conception Bay South arena, recreation complex/pool, and Robert French Memorial Stadium.
Mount Pearl
The town hall and Summit Centre will be closed. There will be no change to garbage and recycling collection because it’s not collected on Mondays.
Paradise
The town hall and Paradise Double Ice Complex, including the Rotary Paradise Youth and Community Centre will be closed on Monday.
Garbage and recycling for the week of September 3 will move ahead by one day. For example, if your garbage is normally collected on Monday, it will be collected on Tuesday instead, and so on.
Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s
The town hall and library will be closed on Monday. The garbage and recycling schedule won’t be affected because there’s no pick up on Mondays.
Torbay
The town hall will be closed. Garbage and recycling collection will not be affected as it doesn’t occur on Mondays.
