The alleged attempted murder was widely reported in the media, but on Sunday, the RMCP arrested the man who had reported the supposed July 12 stabbing incident.

The man, a resident of Port Aux Basques, has been released on conditions by a peace officer and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Thomas Kavanagh was released from custody on Saturday and the charges against him have been withdrawn from the court.

The investigation is continuing.
