Traffic started building just after the supper hour and by 7 p.m. roads to St. Kevin’s Parish Hall were lined with cars and people trying to buy tickets.
The Chase the Ace jackpot was $597,729, but when Martin Heffernan’s number was called, he didn’t draw the ace of spades. Heffernan, of the Goulds, won the consolation prize of $66,805.
The 50/50 prize was $81,970 and was won by Shane Dalton of Catalina.
The fundraiser continues again next Wednesday, when the prize pots will be even bigger.
