There’s a new opportunity to tinkle the ivories at the Health Sciences Centre after Business & Arts NL launched its sixth Come Play With Me piano Thursday morning.

The piano was installed to encourage interaction between clients, patients and visitors of the Health Sciences Centre to and share a love of music and visual arts.

The piano features the artwork of Louise Markus, who was inspired by thinking about bringing comfort to those who are staying, visiting or working in the health facility and hospital. It represents a beautiful traditional quilt blowing in the breeze or draped over a soft bed.

The Come Play With Me initiative works to strengthen the relationship between the province’s arts and business sectors. The piano was sponsored by Judy Sparkes Giannou of the Comfort Inn.

“Providing the comfort of music to those visiting the Health Sciences Centre was at the forefront of our decision to support this initiative,” she said.

Award winning pianist Bill Brennan played the piano for its first official performance in the main floor of the HSC in the Atrium foyer.

Other Come Play With Me piano locations are St. John’s International Airport, Deer Lake Airport, Memorial University Student Centre, Atlantic Place and Memorial University’s Battery facility.
