Paramedics prepare to transfer a patient from a search and rescue Cormorant helicopter to a waiting ambulance early Thursday morning.

The chopper was assisted by a Hercules aircraft from the 413 squadron in Greenwood, Nova Scotia. The Cormorant landed at the Health Sciences Centre just after 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning and transferred the patient to a waiting Eastern Health ambulance to be taken to the nearby hospital. The rescue aircraft were dispatched by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax to transport a crew member of a fishing vessel who was having a medical issue.
