The medical marijuana production facility BeeHigh Vital Elements is planning to open in Corner Brook is getting closer to being able to start growing.
Rita Hall is the president and CEO of company that is referred to as BeeHighVE.
The company submitted an application to Health Canada to become a licensed producer of medical marijuana in December 2017 and last Thursday received its official “Confirmation of Readiness Letter.”

Hall said that means all the company’s standard operating procedures, “right down to the epoxy we’re putting on our floor,” have passed Health Canada’s requirements.
Now the company just has to finish its building, the former NL West SPCA property on the north shore highway.
Hall said it should be ready by the end of June and the company will start growing in July, once it receives its official cultivation licence.
“People have taken three years plus to get here, so this is huge for us,” said Hall.
The company is also moving forward on its plan to produce and sell antibiotic free honey.
And in 2019, when edible marijuana products become legal, it plans to infuse some honey products with CBD (cannibidiol), a cannabis compound that has medical benefits, but is nonpsychoactive.
It has also submitted a request with the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation to operate a store front for its products on the property.
