An RCMP officer accompanies Daniel Edward Leonard as he enters Harbour Grace Provincial Court.

Daniel Edward Leonard, 35, appeared in person before a judge. He’s charged with second-degree murder in the death of Porter, a 39-year-old North River resident. Porter was found in front of his home June 29, 2014. Police said he was stabbed multiple times.

Leonard and 53-year-old Allan Potter are jointly accused of murdering Porter. The two men were among several with ties to the outlaw Viking Motorcycle Club arrested late last month.

Leonard's case returns to Harbour Grace Nov. 16. Potter, who was arrested in Ontario and like Leonard remains in custody, is back in court Nov. 4. A court order prohibits the two men from having contact with each other or any of the men recently arrested with suspected ties to the Vikings.
