At Monday night’s council meeting, where the funding for the park was approved, Coun. Sheilagh O’Leary said she was very pleased to see the roughly 1,300-square-metre park moving ahead, after bringing residents’ calls for the park forward for some time.

It is expected to cost about $20,000, mainly for a chain-link fence surrounding it.

Coun. Tom Hann, meanwhile, said both he and Coun. Wally Collins are aware of a desire among their constituents for a similar park in Southlands. Discussion on a dog park for Southlands is expected at the next meeting of the city’s public works committee.
