The driver of a four-wheel drive Jeep went missing Saturday afternoon after the vehicle he was driving overturned in a ditch in Torbay just after 1 p.m.
When emergency personnel arrived on scene they found the vehicle upside-down near the road and reports indicate the male driver had fled the scene before their arrival. The truck suffered extensive damage and the incident is under investigation by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
A second collision in Paradise about an hour later appeared to be a four-vehicle rear end crash which sent two people to hospital. The incident happened in the westbound lane of Topsail Road at Trails End Drive and snarled traffic in the area for about an hour until the scene could be cleared.
All four vehicles suffered minor to moderate damage and the injuries to the two victims were not considered serious.
