Gina Rosemary Penney is led into provincial court earlier this week to face charges in connection with a home invasion on Thorburn Road over the weekend.

Gina Rosemary Penney, 31, and Michael Samson, 32, were freed following their bail hearings at provincial court in St. John’s Thursday.

Conditions of their release include that they adhere to a curfew and sign in at RNC headquarters twice a week. They’re not permitted to have contact with each other or leave the province.

Penney and Samson are scheduled back in court April 7.

The two face charges of robbery, break and enter and assault with a weapon (a crowbar). Penney is also charged with breaking a probation order, which was issued in August 2016. At that time, she was sentenced to three years’ probation for a January 2015 aggravated assault against RNC Const. Carl Snelgrove, who made headlines recently when he was found not guilty of sexual assault on a woman.

The home invasion was said to have happened early Sunday morning at the Thorburn Road house, which is the same address listed for Penney on court documents.

Penney and Samson reported got in the house, assaulted a man with a crowbar and stole thousands of dollars.
