So when a suspected electrical fire leveled their Botwood home early Sunday morning, they soon realized they now had nothing left to pack.
“There is nothing left, it’s gone, everything is gone,” said Hoffe. “Millions and millions of dollars will never recover what we lost in this house — 13 years of our lives are in this house.”
Members of the Botwood Fire Department were dispatched to the fire around 1 a.m. according to Hoffe, but by 3 a.m. when RCMP members had located and contacted the homeowner, the house had burned to the ground.
“My mom passed May 20, I lost all the memories I had of her, my sister passed four years ago and I lost all my memories of her,” said Hoffe. “No one can imagine how I feel about this.”
For now the family of three is staying at a hotel while the insurance company sorts out the details of their claim. In the meantime Hoffe says they will try to keep things as normal as possible for their eleven year old daughter, Marissa. With all their possessions lost in the fire, the family is in urgent need of school supplies, clothing and daily living items.
“It’s a waiting game now,” said Hoffe. “I’m just sat here now in front of the house looking at it and I’ve got to walk away from it, it’s too hard, that was my home.”
Anyone who would like to make a monetary donation can e-transfer funds to [email protected]. The family is also looking for clothing donations; medium in woman’s clothing, clothing donations can be dropped off at 33 Wireless Rd. in Botwood.
