ST. JOHN’S, NL – An event being hosted by Eastern Health this week is being called the first of its kind.

Eastern Health is partnering with the Department of Health and Community Services, the regional health authorities, the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI), Memorial University, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Technology Industries (NATI) for a Heath Innovation Fair.

It is being be held on Thursday, May 17 at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s.

The event will bring interested organizations and stakeholders together to collaborate on the direction of future health innovations.

Some of the most significant initiatives undertaken in recent years at Eastern Health and across the province will be showcased during the fair.

“As a leader in health-care innovation, we are pleased to host this Health Innovation Fair as a way to foster a culture of health innovation and research among our partners and stakeholders,” Eastern Health president and CEO David Diamond said.

“This sort of collaboration is important to helping us find creative solutions aimed at improving health outcomes across the province, including improved access to services and sustainable approaches to health-care delivery,” he added.

“Similarly, this event provides a key platform to share and acknowledge a wide-range of health innovations with our patients, residents, clients and families.”

A series of exhibits will be placed along the foyer of the main floor at the Health Sciences Centre during the fair. The public are invited to visit the booths from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There are also a number of activities during the day for registered participants, including presentations, a speed networking session and a panel discussion session.
