Lt.-Gov. Frank Fagan on Monday announced eight people will be invested into the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador at a Jan. 31 ceremony at Government House in St. John’s.

The recipients are Terence S. Goodyear, Dr. Falah B. Maroun, Robert Mellin, Wayne Miller, Kathleen Pratt LeGrow, Katarina Mirabelle Roxon, Marie E. Ryan, and Frederick David Smallwood.

A news release states the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador recognizes people who have demonstrated excellence and achievement in any field of endeavour benefiting in an outstanding manner the province and its residents.

“These individuals represent the ideals of the very best that the province has to offer,” Fagan stated. “Their commitments to people, community and province serve as examples to be emulated by all.”

Since the first appointments in 2004, 90 people have been named to the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador.

“These eight recipients of the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador are certainly deserving of the honour, considering their significant achievements and the work they have done to promote their province and make it a better place,” Premier Dwight Ball stated. “It will be a pleasure to celebrate their accomplishments in person.”
