A fire at a Bell Aliant depot on Glencoe Drive in Donovans Industrial Park Thursday night destroyed two vehicles and caused extensive damage to a maintenance building.
The fire broke out at about 8:30 p.m. and when firefighters from the St. John’s Regional fire department arrived on scene on Glencoe Drive, platoon chief Brian Tucker said there was heavy smoke and fire coming from the building, a cube van and an SUV. Firefighters connected lines to fire hydrants and were able to tackle the fire quickly but not before the damage was done.Tucker said there was one employee in the area at the time and there were no injuries.
The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the blaze.
