Fire damages home in Portugal Cove-St. Philip's Saturday afternoon

Firefighters from the town were called to the scene when a neighbour noticed smoke coming from the front porch area of the home on Pratt Place.

Firefighters were able to knock the fire down quickly but not before the exterior wall near the front door was damaged. They also had to cut into the wall to make sure the fire had not gotten into the wall itself.

There were no injuries and there was nobody home at the time of the incident.
