Firefighters from the St. John's Regional Fire Department were called out to a vehicle fire on the Trans-Canada Highway late Tuesday night.
The call came in just before 10 p.m. and when they arrived on scene, the SUV was engulfed in flames.
The fire occurred in the eastbound lane of the T.C.H. so firefighters had to first head further west to an emergency turnaround to come back towards the incident.
They made quick work of the blaze but not before the vehicle was destroyed.
There was no one located near the SUV when firefighters arrived and the RCMP were called in to further investigate.
