Forbes Bros. is company involved in fatal N.L. transmission line incident

Alberta-based contracting company Forbes Bros. has confirmed that it was the company involved in the accident, which killed two workers near Come By Chance Monday.

In a news release, senior vice-president Matthew Forbes said the company is offering support to the families of the two victims.

“We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to them as they deal with this loss of their loved ones. Forbes employees are a closely knit group, and we deeply feel this loss,” Forbes said.

Forbes Bros. work in Newfoundland and Labrador will remain suspended for the time being, while information is gathered about what happened.

“This is a difficult time for everyone involved,” said Forbes. “Our entire company will work together to ensure that a complete and thorough investigation determines the root cause of this incident. At this time, our main focus is on the families of the two individuals and the well-being of our co-workers.”

Construction accident on N.L. transmission line kills two workers

The two men were killed during construction work of Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro’s new transmission line from Bay d’Espoir to the Avalon Peninsula. Forbes Bros. is a contractor working for NL Hydro on the project

All work on the line has been suspended while the incident is investigated.
