Kelly hosted the show for eight seasons in the 1980s and 1990s, but suffered from heart disease and had his first heart attack at age 35 in 1980, the CBC reported Wednesday.
Despite his health issues, subsequent heart attacks and heart surgery, Kelly led the successful fight to save “Land & Sea” from cancellation in 1990.
Prior to his stint with the CBC, Kelly worked as a journalist for The Evening Telegram.
The CBC said Kelly is survived by his wife, Flo, and their three children, Deanne, John and Paul.
