Around 5 p.m., RNC patrol officers, Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Investigation Services members responded to a home on Westview Avenue after receiving a report of a firearm being shot in the area.

The RNC said in a news release investigators found visible damage to the front door of a home on Westview Avenue that was believed to have been the result of a firearm being discharged.

Witnesses reported seeing a male get out of a dark-coloured vehicle and walk up to the door before hearing a gunshot.

The RNC said nobody was injured during this incident and there is no evidence to suggest that this was a random act of violence.

The RNC Major Crime Unit is continuing its investigation into this incident. Anyone who has information is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can also provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers Website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
