A head-on collision between two cars late Wednesday night in Mount Pearl sent one person to hospital.

The collision happened on Old Placentia Road near Emerald Drive at about 10:30 p.m. and left both vehicles in the middle of the road and extensively damaged. An official on scene said it appeared none of the injuries appeared serious. Traffic was slowed in the area as police, firefighters and paramedics tended to the incident. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating the collision.
