A large recall is underway for Smith Snacks products.
Health Canada is warning some Smiths Snacks products could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Recalled products for Smiths include many of the prepackaged sandwiches and wraps prepared by the company with best-before dates up to and including May 11, 2018.
Products include: Ultimate BBQ Rib Sub, Bacon Cheese Hot Dog; Chicken Club Twister Wrap, Deli Twister Wrap, Small Sub, Chuck Wagon Sub, Pizza Sub, Large Pizza Sub, Large Sub, Deli Deluxe Sub, Hungry Human Sub, Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich, Chicken Club Kaiser, Bacon & Cheese Double Burger, Twin Pack Burgers, Turkey & Dressing Sandwich, Whole Wheat Turkey & Dressing Sandwich, Hot Club Sandwich, Blackforest Ham & Cheddar Sandwiches, Roast Beef & Cheddar Sandwiches.
Also included are a number of dessert products: Cinnamon Swirl, Apple Turnover, Blueberry Turnover, Banana Bread and Pound Cake.
Winsor Snacks recalling Big ‘n Beefy sandwiches
Winsor Snacks is recalling 200-gram Orange Store brand Big 'n Beefy Sandwiches, on both white and whole wheat bread, from the marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Consumers should not consume the recalled products.
These recalls were triggered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's (CFIA) inspection activities.
Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.
Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.
Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die.
What you should do
Check to see if you have recalled products in your home. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.
If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your doctor.
