The national weather forecaster says a cold front will slowly move eastwards across the island Thursday. This feature is forecast to tap into a warm, humid airmass from the south to bring rain, at times heavy, to southeastern Newfoundland Thursday afternoon.
Total rainfall amounts of 25 to possibly more than 40 millimetres are forecast by Thursday evening with the majority of the rain expected to fall Thursday afternoon and evening.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, Environment Canada notes.
The public is advised to monitor future forecasts as rainfall warnings may be required.
