According to a news release today, a recent file review showed there were 20 separate vehicle crashes between Dec. 21 and Jan. 3.

Of the 20 incidents, 15 were single-vehicle accidents that involved leaving the road and/or overturning on or near the road, and were possibly avoidable if motorists were driving slower.

"When the driving conditions are less than ideal one must drive accordingly,” Staff Sgt. Boyd Merrill said in the release.

“The posted speed signs apply to ideal conditions only. Regardless of the conditions the driver must meet these conditions or dire consequences can result."

The RCMP reported neither of the accidents resulted in any serious injury or death.
