The 21-year-old was charged after a home invasion in Bay Roberts last May, when the victim’s vehicle was also stolen. Fry has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The co-accused in the case, Joshua Burton, has already been sentenced to more than six years in prison for his part in the crime.
RCMP officers took the stand to give detailed descriptions of physical evidence in the case. Judge Jacqueline Brazil is the presiding judge over the case.
Details were released on the items recovered during a manhunt carried out the same night as the home invasion, including several leather purses, wallets, gloves, a jewelry case and many other personal belongings of the elderly victim.
An RCMP dog handler out of Bay Roberts, Cpl. Jason Butler, was one of those that concluded his testimony today. Two other officers also took the stand, Cst. Davies and Cst. Russell. Davies was part of the ground search that recovered many of the stolen items. Russell was the officer that took the victim’s statement and was the arresting officer for Burton. Both confirmed the stolen vehicle was found outside Fry’s apartment building the same day it was taken.
While the officers completed their testimony, Fry sat in the prisoner’s box in shackles, watching and listening. Sporadically he would glance over at his family, who have attended every court date he has had since his arrest.
Fry has been in custody since last May. He is currently serving jail time at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary for an unrelated incident. He will be eligible for parole in February.
The continuation of Fry’s trial will take place on March 4, with an additional court date added for March 21.
