Running into a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary cruiser may not make your day.
This is the case for a 31-year-old St. John’s driver who rear-ended the RNC car that was attempting to stop the vehicle for a routine road check after they were alerted in a possible impaired driver around 7 p.m. Thursday night.
The driver was charged with impaired driving, failing the breathalyzer, leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest and a breach of a court order.
No one was injured in the collision and dame to the vehicles was considered minor.
The man was held in jail overnight pending a court appearance.
At 2:24 a.m., am 18-year-old man was stopped in the downtown area as he was believed to be operating a vehicle while impaired.
He refused a breathalyzer by the RNC and was charged under the criminal code for refusing the remand. In addition, he was issued a seven-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded.
Following the charges he was released to appear in court at a later date.
In a third call from Thursday night, a 26-year-old man was charged with theft under $5,000 and breaches of court orders following a shoplifting complaint at around 8:55 p.m.
He was held overnight to appear in court.
