King appeared via videolink in the Harbour Grace courthouse on May 9th for Judge Bruce Short’s decision on the matter.
King was charged in March of 2016 after an incident in the Dollarama store in the Bay Roberts Mall, where police responded to a call reporting a woman had been stabbed.
King, a Spaniard's Bay resident, was facing seven charges – attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, assault, failure to comply with probation, and mischief relating to damaging property.
In Short’s decision, the charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault, and breach of probation were set to trial. The remaining charges were dropped.

King will be tried by a judge alone at Supreme Court in St. John’s. A date has not yet been set for the trial. The accused has not entered pleas.
