GANDER, NL – Limited visitation precautions at Lakeside Homes in Gander have been expanded to include all areas of the facility.

Cases of respiratory illness initially necessitated the implementation of limited visitation precautions for the facility’s nursing care unit only on Feb. 28.

An advisory from Central Health on Friday, March 9 indicated the expanded precautions are the result of additional cases.

To help reduce the spread of respiratory illness, only one visitor at a time is permitted for each resident, and all visitors must be at least 14 years of age. The visitor precautions do not apply to people visiting palliative care residents.

All visitors to Central Health facilities are reminded to wash their hands after arriving and before leaving the facility.

Anyone experiencing any flu-like symptoms is asked to delay visiting any of the health authority’s facilities until feeling better.
