Drover, originally from Upper Island Cove, was a teacher and principal before moving into financial services in the late 1960s.
He is a former regional director for London Life Insurance Co., has been a trustee on the Health Care Foundation of St. John's, the Waterford Hospital Foundation, and the St. Clare's Mercy Hospital Foundation. He has been a director with CNIB and the Community Services Council, and is a past commissioner with the National Capital Commission in Ottawa.
Drover also sat on the board for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Statistics Canada, Newfoundland Power, Evergreen Environmental and was chairman of the finance committee on the board of trustees for Eastern Health.
Drover was a commander The Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lezarus of Jerusalem and a proud member of the Rotary Club of St. John’s North West, starting initiatives such as the Rotary Manor, Rotary Music Fest and Food for the Needy.

“During his years with our board, he made many significant and lasting contributions to our organization, always keeping the public interest first and foremost.”
Visitation is taking is taking place at Carnell’s Funeral Home today from 6-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. His funeral will be held Monday, 2 p.m., at the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
