A 22-year-old St. John’s man was arrested on Sunday afternoon for a host of charges that stemmed from a break and entry call in the city’s west end.
The suspect fled the scene prior to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s (RNC) arrival
He was located a short time later and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
Officers transported him to the Mount Pearl detachment office where he was given the breathalyzer and recorded a reading of .16, twice the legal limit.
The man was charged with break and entry with intent to commit an indictable offence, failing the breathalyzer, impaired driving and breach of probation.
He was held in lockup overnight and is to appear in court this morning.
