Michael Samson at provincial court in St. John’s today.

Michael Samson, 32, and Gina Rosemary Penney, 31, appeared in provincial court Monday morning, a day after they were arrested.

Lawyers agreed to set the case over until Thursday for further review and for possible bail hearings. Penney and Samson were taken back to prison until then.

The two face charges of robbery, break and enter and assault with a weapon (a crowbar). Penney is also charged with breaking a probation order, which was issued in August 2016. At that time, she was sentenced to three years’ probation for a January 2015 aggravated assault against RNC Const. Carl Snelgrove, who made headlines recently when he was found not guilty of sexual assault on a woman.

The home invasion was said to have happened early Sunday morning at the Thorburn Road house, which is the same address listed for Penney on court documents.

Penney and Samson reportedly got into the house, assaulted a man with a crowbar and stole thousands of dollars.
