LITTLE BAY, N.L — A home in the Little Bay area of Marystown was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning, May 13.
Fire Chief Alex Coady told the Southern Gazette that the Marystown Volunteer Fire Department received a call about the fire at approximately 2:25 a.m. on Sunday.
“We responded with engine 3, (the) rescue (and) with the ladder apparatus, and 15 firefighters,” the chief said.
With the fire extinguished, Coady said they returned to the fire hall at approximately 6:30 a.m. to do clean up.
The structure was a cause for concern again on Sunday when security at the location saw smoke coming from it.
“We got called back Sunday evening,” Coady explained. “Belfor was doing some security at the scene and they noticed some smoke coming from the upper level.”
Firefighters remained on scene for almost an hour before returning to the station.
