Around 10 p.m, RNC patrol services responded to a report of attempted theft at a Kenmount Road car dealership.
Information on the suspect vehicle was provided by bystander.
Meanwhile, police got a complaint of a break and entry at an east-end St John’s residence involving the same vehicle.
Police say the residents were at home at the time and the two suspects were armed with an axe and a hammer.
Both suspects fled the scene in the suspect vehicle before police got there and the victims weren't injured.
Police then located the vehicle in a west-end St John’s neighbourhood.
Both suspects ran away and patrol officers caught a 20-year-old St John’s man a short distance from the vehicle.
Sgt. Russell Moores and his police service dog Dyson caught the second suspect after tracking him for about three kilometres.
Police say the 30-year-old St. John’s man also had an outstanding warrant of arrest.
Both men are charged with robbery, possession of weapons dangerous to the public, break and entry and breach of court orders.
