Mark Critch, Newfoundland writer and performer, announced in a tweet Saturday morning that his mother, Mary Critch, 80, died on Thursday.
Critch, who is one of the stars CBC’s “This Hour has 22 Minutes” tweeted, “It is with great sorrow that I announce the passing of my mom. She was busting with love and family pride. She had a laugh that you could wrap around yourself like a blanket. Thanks to all who have been asking about her over the past couple of months.”

She is survived by sons Michael and Mark, daughter-in-law Kathy; her grandchildren Jacob, Will and Lucy; her sisters Diane, Bertha and brother David. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Caul’s Funeral Home LeMarchant Road on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Dec. 28 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Teresa’s Church. Inurnment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the O'Brien Farm Foundation.
