ST. JOHN’S, NL – A dozen municipalities in the province have been awarded age-friendly community grants.
Children, Seniors and Social Development Minister Lisa Dempster announced the recipients today, April 26.
The total funding being distributed is $90,000.
The grants program supports incorporated municipalities, Indigenous governments and communities plan for an aging population.
SeniorsNL commended the municipalities for seeking out the support, saying it shows their commitment to being communities that are age-friendly.
“The provincial government’s support for these projects will help provide programs and services that enrich the lives of seniors,” SeniorsNL executive director Kelly Heisz said in a news release.
