A house fire on Navy Street Sunday afternoon caused some damage to the home but there were no injuries.
The fire apparently broke out in a basement air exchanger and was spotted by a neighbor. After the neighbor called 911, he then used a garden hose to spray water into the unit’s outside vent until firefighters arrived on scene.
The house suffered some smoke and fire damage, mainly in the basement area, and a second attached home also filled with smoke.
No one was home at the time of the fire and a pet cat was safely located by firefighters.
