NORTH RIVER, NL — A home in North River has been completely destroyed following a house fire early Tuesday morning.
The Bay Roberts Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call for aid from the Bay de Grave Volunteer Fire Department regarding a house fire in North River at around 1:30 Tuesday morning, Mar. 6.
Fire Chief Rick Edmunds with the Bay Roberts brigade told The Compass the flames had died down by the time they arrived, but ignited once again due to strong winds, resulting in the house becoming engulfed in fire. The home had no proper access to water, so members of both brigades were reliant on water pumpers to douse the flames.
By the time the flames were at their peak, the home was empty, so Edmunds reported no injuries, but described the remnants of the home as a “total loss.”
As of later into Tuesday morning, the fire has been doused and the flames subsided.
