Three public information meetings are scheduled in Labrador next week regarding a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) on the Labrador Shelf Offshore Area for future potential oil and gas development or exploration.

They are being conducted by Aivek and Stassinu Stantec Limited Partnerships on behalf of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB).

The meetings will be held in Port Hope Simpson on Aug. 21 at the Alexis Hotel from 4-7 p.m., Cartwright at the Parish Harish from 2-5 p.m., and Mary’s Harbour at a venue to be determined from 2-5 p.m.

Other meetings will be scheduled for Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Nain, Natuashish, Hopedale, Makkovik, Postville and Rigolet.

The meetings will be drop-in style with a formal presentation to follow.
