Pair charged with trafficking cocaine, marijuana following search of Carbonear home

CARBONEAR, NL – Two men are facing charges after the RCMP seized cocaine, marijuana, cash and a prohibited firearm from a residence in Carbonear on Monday, Jan. 8.

Mateo Brewer, 20, has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannibis for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, and careless storage of a firearm.

Brewer appeared in Harbour Grace Provincial Court this morning and was released. His next court appearance is schedule for Jan. 31.

Austin Keels, 18, has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking. He was being held in custody until a court appearance this afternoon.

Officers with the RCMP’s Harbour Grace detachment along with federal serious and organized crime investigators and the RCMP’s police dog services were involved in the execution of a search warrant on the home.
