The City of St. John’s and the provincial government joined community members from Wedgewood Park for the grand opening of the new Paul Reynolds Community Centre today (Thursday).
“This new, modern and energy efficient facility will serve as a community hub, learning centre and fun space for the young and the young at heart for many years to come,” Mayor Dennis O'Keefe said in a news release.
The centre has 74,000 square feet of overall space, including a 25-metre pool and a leisure pool, two waterslides, fully accessible changing rooms, a full-sized gymnasium, as well as a fitness area and an outdoor playground scheduled to be constructed this year. The centre also has dedicated areas for youth, children and seniors, as well as several multi-purpose rooms.
