The results of MQO Research’s quarterly Atlantic Matters poll reveals the Liberals at 43 per cent amongst decided and leaning voters, which is on par with October.
Support for the PC party increased five points for the same group of voters over the same period, to 36 per cent, while the NDP fell seven points to 20 per cent.
Meanwhile, 26 per cent of all voters say they are undecided or don’t know.
The poll shows the public’s view of Premier Dwight Ball’s performance is also unchanged since October, and that’s not a good thing for him. Seventy-four per cent of voters rate the job he is doing at five or lower on a scale of one to 10.
As well, voters concern about the economy is growing, according to the poll. Overall, 69 per cent feel it is continuing to get worse, up from 63 per cent in October.
Also in the poll, 60 per cent expressed a high level of concern about the cost of living, while 29 per cent rated their general stress level at eight or higher. Eighty per cent said they are very unlikely to make a major purchase this year.
The Atlantic Matters poll was conducted by telephone from Jan. 25-28 and included 600 randomly selected eligible voters from across the province.
