A pedestrian was taken to hospital after he was struck and thrown into a ditch by an SUV on St. Thomas Line Friday night.

The man was apparently struck by the vehicle's passenger side rear-view mirror as he walked on the shoulder of the road.

His injuries were not considered serious.

In a separate incident, one person was taken to hospital following a two-vehicle collision on Portugal Cove Road Friday night.

The collision occurred just north of the Newfoundland Drive intersection and left both vehicles blocking the northbound lane.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and the injuries to the victim were not considered serious.
