Multiple Royal Newfoundland Constabulary units and Eastern Health paramedics responded to the area of Neptune Road at about 9 p.m. Wednesday night following an alleged stabbing.
A bystander told The Telegram that one man, who had apparently been stabbed, had been placed aboard an ambulance.
When the Telegram arrived on scene, the ambulance was parked with a side door open at the east end of Neptune Road. Within minutes, it left the area with lights and sirens activated as police spoke to residents of a nearby home.
About 20 minutes later all police vehicles left the scene.
In its overnight report, police said a 40-year-old man has serious but non life-threatening injuries as a result of an altercation that allegedly took place at another location. He was taken to hospital to be treated.
The incident is under investigation by the major crime unit.
