Newfoundland Power says it’s tracking power outages across the city.  The outages are believed originate with Newfoundland Hydro, which tweeted it had experienced a trip on a transmission line and two units of its Cat Arm facility. Hydro is working to restore the system now.

Power went out at about 11:30 a.m., and is thought to be be affecting thousands of customers. It is not known when power will be restored to affected areas.
In the meantime, an unplanned power outage is also affecting Buttlerville, Bay Roberts and Shearstown areas. The cause is under investigation and crews are en route.
