Smith had been a part of the province’s Buildings Accessibility Advisory Board, noted Gambin-Walsh, formerly the minister responsible for the status of persons with disabilities.

“Through his writing and trademark wit, he promoted a greater understanding of accessibility. On behalf of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador I offer condolences to his family, friends and colleagues on his passing,” Gambin-Walsh said.

Smith’s funeral service takes place Monday afternoon at Grace United Church in Springdale.
