The province is holding public consultations on regional government in Newfoundland and Labrador, according to Municipal Affairs and Environment Minister Eddie Joyce.

“Our government has heard from residents and local government leaders alike who are concerned about the long-term sustainability of local governments,” Joyce said.

“The province is facing demographic challenges that will affect future local governments’ abilities to govern effectively and deliver local essential services. I encourage all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to take part and share your ideas and perspectives on a new potential approach to local governance.”

Twenty-two in-person consultation sessions will begin on Sept. 6. The full schedule is available in the backgrounder below.

Organizations or residents who wish to plan their own consultation sessions can find information on www.EngageNL.ca.
