The 25-year-old Stacey was accused of killing his co-worker, 41-year-old Comerford, in the back of a company shuttle van on Jan. 11, 2015.

Stacey and Comerford were among a group of chicken catchers on their way to work that night. When the van stopped at Greenwood Crescent in Mount Pearl to pick up Stacey around 9 p.m., witnesses had alleged Comerford and Stacey got into a heated argument outside the van. When they finally got back in, Comerford  had reportedly attacked Stacey in the back seat.
