CORNER BROOK
The Corner Brook Fire Department was still on the scene of a fire at the old pump house on Mount Bernard Ave. at 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
The department responded to the fire at around 9:30 p.m.
A firefighter on the scene said the cause of the fire was not yet known, however, an officer with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said it was being investigated as suspicious.
The building was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived and they concentrated on an interior attack.
The fire was brought under control before 10:30 p.m. and the department turned to concentrating its efforts on mop up of the scene.
There was no one in the building, which once housed the Bay of Islands Search and Rescue, when firefighters arrived.
